Duplicate values for Membership Subcategory

Some users may notice duplicate values in the Subcategory dropdown on a membership record in the Raiser's Edge. This issue can occur when the Table Cleanup option in Configuration, Tables is used to combine multiple subcategory values into a new value.

To use Table Cleanup on membership subcategories:

  1. Create the new subcategory first by going to New Table Entries.
  2. Then use Table Cleanup to merge the old entries in the new one, selecting to Delete table entries that are being replaced if desired.
Note: If duplicate entries are listed in the Subcategory drop down, these don't interfere with querying, reporting, etc. Each listing holds the same value, so will show up properly in other modules as a single Subcategory drop-down.

We have evaluated this issue as a bug and we have determined it will not be addressed in the program in its current state.  In this case, we believe the risks and challenges outweigh the potential benefit of resolving this issue. We strive to select the most impactful changes and issues to address with each release to accelerate the rate at which we deliver new features while sustaining the highest level of quality for our customers.
