Block Schedule Set:

A Block schedule is one in which  a group of classes meet according to a pattern. The pattern is comprised by the days and times the group of classes meet.  A block (which can be alpha, numeric or a combination, i.e., A, 1, or A1) is attached to each pattern and the block is assigned to the appropriate course section.

For example:

  Monday

 Tuesday

Wednesday

 Thursday

   Friday

8am -10am

The pattern for A block is 8 - 10am on Monday, 2 - 4pm on Tuesday, 12 - 2pm on Wednesday, 10am - 12pm on Thursday and 8-10am on Friday.

Each class that meets on those days at those times would be attached to block A.

Random Schedule Set:

A Random schedule is one in which few or none of the course sections follow any apparent pattern and each section usually follows a unique rotation from one week to another.

For example:

Math 7, Science 8 and PE 6 meet from 8 - 10am on Monday

But then:

Math 7 meets from 8 - 10 am on Tuesday and 8 - 10am on Thurs.
Science 8 meets again from 10am - 12pm on Monday for lab and then Friday from 10am - 12pm
PE 6 meets from 8 - 10am on Wednesday

The following week is a unique schedule from the first:
Math 7 meets from 2 - 4pm on Monday, 2 - 4pm on Wednesday, and 8 - 10am on Friday
Science 8 meets from 8 - 10am on Monday, 10am - 12pm on Tuesday, 2 - 4pm on Thursday, and 8 - 10am on Friday.
PE 6 meets from 2 - 4pm on Tuesday
