Visa, Mastercard, and Discover card members can find their CSC or CVV2 number in the signature area of your card. Your card number should be printed here along with a three-digit number at the end. This is your CSC or CVV2 number. American Express card members can find their CSC or CVV2 number printed above and to the right of the imprinted card number on the front of the card.
If you need to process gifts using this number, log on to your credit card gateway web portal such as the IATS Website or the BBMS web portal and process the credit card transactions manually for cards that require the CSC/CVV code.
Most, if not all, credit card issuers such as Visa, MasterCard, and Discover, forbid the tracking of this number. Therefore, this number should not be stored in The Raiser's Edge. The Raiser's Edge Batch module for processing one-time and recurring gifts does not have a CSC/CVV column for processing or storing this data.
From the MasterCard Website (pg.102 in the pdf document): "Acquirers, merchants, DSEs, or any agent representative thereof (including
TPPs), and any POI terminals or devices operated by any such entity, must not store CVC 2 data in any manner for any purpose. At its discretion, MasterCard may impose a noncompliance assessment for failure to comply with these requirements, as described in section 22.214.171.124 of the Bylaws and Rules manual."
