In Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, when actions that require administrative rights on a workstation are requested, the user is prompted for administrator credentials, such as a name and password. When the user is an administrator, the user is still prompted to confirm the pending action.

If you do not require UAC security, you can turn it off to use The Raiser's Edge® without interruption. If you require UAC security, the AdminTasks utility enables users to run Microsoft Windows 7 with UAC security turned on with minimal interruption.

Note : Before you proceed with the following instructions, back up the database. If your organization integrates multiple Blackbaud products, refer to the Additional Requirements section of the backup article.

For The Raiser's Edge, the utility is called BBREAdmin.exe. For The Financial Edge, it's called BBAdmin.exe. 

To run the BBREAdmin.exe for Raiser's Edge:

  1. Browse to the admin task in the Raiser's Edge installation directory. The default location is C:\Program Files\Blackbaud\The Raisers Edge 7\AdminTasks\
  2. Right-click BBREADMIN.EXE for The Raiser's Edge and select 'Run As Administrator'
  3. If prompted, enter the administrator level Windows credentials
  4. Select the appropriate database and log in with appropriate database login (For example, the Supervisor user name)
  5. Select the appropriate task. Users can run five common privileged tasks in The Raiser's Edge:
  • Register Plug-ins: Registers all plugins in The Raiser's Edge
  • Link to GL: Integrates RE and FE (as in How to interface The Raiser's Edge with The Financial Edge)
  • Queue Service: Installs or uninstalls the Queue Service for use with the Queue module. What is RE:Queue?
  • Register DB: Similar to running the RE application as Administrator, registers network changes for the RE database
  • Unlock additional modules: Unlocks modules using unlock codes from Blackbaud.com 
  • Download DHC Updates: Downloads updates to the Data Health Center
To run BBAdmin.exe for The Financial Edge:
Browse to the admin task in the Financial Edge installation directory. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86) \Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\
  1. Right-click BBADMIN.EXE for The Financial Edge and select 'Run As Administrator'
  2. If prompted, enter the administrator level Windows credentials
  3. Select the appropriate database and log in with appropriate database login (For example, the Supervisor user name)
  4. Select the appropriate task. Users can run six common privileged tasks in The Financial Edge:
  • Install Queue Service
  • Register DB
  • Synchronize Integration Data : Synchronizes Education Edge and Raiser's Edge integration data
  • Unlock additional modules
  • Register Plug-ins
  • Install Aatrix : Installs or repairs the Aatrix installation
