In the Financial Edge:  

  1. On the navigation bar, click Banks
  2. Select the Bank Account from which to print checks
  3. Select General Tasks
  4. Click Edit Account Details and select the Payments Tab
  5. Click MICR Line in the upper-right hand corner

Enter the ABA number in the Transit ABA number field on the Print Checks screen's Check Format tab. The number will be saved in the database when a check run is complete. Click the Custom MICR Line button to enter the three parts of the MICR number: Auxiliary code, Routing code, and Account code.


 

Add the Default MICR Line

  1. On the Blank Paper Check screen, Auxiliary code is highlighted in the box to the left, and the grid is loaded with the default characters for the MICR Auxiliary code.
  2. Highlight Routing code and Account code to see their default characters. The lower grid shows the characters arranged according to the position specified in the upper grid. The Print Example shows the entire MICR line as it will print on the check.
  3. Click OK to accept the default numbers and return to the Check Format tab.


Edit Default MICR Line

This procedure is useful if you need to make changes to the default MICR line to meet your bank specifications or add a MICR line for a new bank.

  1. On the Blank Paper Check screen, highlight the code you want to edit. The grid is loaded with the default characters.
  2. Select a Field/Character in the first column of the grid. The available options for Auxiliary code are Blank, Check Number, On-Us symbol, Transit symbol, Dash symbol, and User defined. The available options for Routing code are Blank, Account number, Routing number, On-Us symbol, Transit symbol, Dash symbol, and User defined. The available options for the Account code are Blank, Account number, On-Us symbol, Transit symbol, Dash symbol, and User defined. The symbol corresponding to the field/character you select appears in the Value column. The Value column is non-editable for all options except User defined, for which you can enter any numeric characters.
  3. Enter a number in the Position column. Select a number from the positions available in the lower grid. There is a different set of available positions for each code.
  4. Click OK to save the changes and return to the Check Format tab. 



In Accounting for Nonprofits:

  1. Open Bank Accounts
  2. Select the Bank Account from which to print checks
  3. Select File, Checks, Print Checks from the menu bar
  4. On the Format tab and select a blank paper check format 
  5. Select the Check Format tab and click MICR Line
