There are two different ways to track children related to memberships in Altru. It is important to select one of the options below and be consistent in your data entry standards in order to properly track children.
 
If you do not wish to track the children as Constituents:
 
In this option the number of children in a household will be referenced on the members record, can be included on membership cards, but the children will not be named on the memberships. To configure this setting, follow these steps:
  1. Click on the Memberships on the navigation bar
  2. Select the membership program you want to update
  3. Select the level tabs and click edit.
  4. Update the number of children that will be allowed on the level.

This field shows how many children are allowed under the specific membership level upon data entry. This does not control membership ticket benefits for children, but when selling a membership, you will receive an error message if you enter a greater number of children than those allowed in the above configuration.

If you wish to track the children as Constituents:
 
In this option the children will be added as constituent records in your database and attached to the membership. When using this option ensure you are properly creating relationships and household records for the adults and children to prevent duplicate mailings to the same household. Review how to add a member to a household by reviewing this help topic. To configure this setting, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Memberships on the navigation bar
  2. Select the membership program you want to update
  3. Select the level tabs and click edit.
  4. Update the number of members that will be allowed on the level.
  5. In the number of children field you can still define the number of children on the membership level, but since the children will already be included in the number of members field you can also set this to ‘0’

Children need to be entered in the "Members" field when adding the membership, for example on the Daily Sales screen after clicking the Memberships button, they need to be added or entered under the "Members section."
