Error: Address is a required field when the relationship is honor/memorial acknowledgee and is not a constituent - when adding a Tribute acknowledgee

When adding a new non-constituent Tribute acknowledgee, the following error message may occur. This appears despite the address is completed (Address lines field has data):

Address is a required field when the relationship is honor/memorial acknowledgee and is not a constituent

Note: The optional RE:Tribute module must be present for Honor/Memorial records.

This issue has been addressed. Please update to the latest Raiser's Edge version.

If this still occurs in the latest version, click Chat with Support, reference this article, and provide the following information so we can assist you:

  • Screenshots or samples of the error message occurring.
  • A copy of your Raiser's Edge database. If hosted by Blackbaud, then please be ready to provide authorization for a copy to be obtained for testing.

If this error is occurring as described, only non-constituent acknowledgees are affected. Add the acknowledgee as a constituent to link them if they must be added immediately (such as a tribute card/letter needs to be sent right away).

Steps to Duplicate

In an affected Raiser's Edge:
  1. Open any constituent record.
  2. Click on the Honor/Memorial tab,
  3. If not already set, mark Constituent is an honor/memorial.
  4. Click New Tribute.
  5. Set Tribute type and any other required fields.
  6. Click in the first Name field under Acknowledgees.
  7. Click on the binoculars.
  8. Click Add New on the left. Select Individual or Organization.
  9. Enter any required fields.
  10. Also enter Address Lines data.
  11. Click Save and Close.
  12. The error occurs even though there is Address Lines data present. This happens adding acknowledgees to existing Tributes. It also happens on Tribute record entry from a Gift batch. This does not occur if the acknowledgee being added is an existing constituent.
