How to mail to contact addressee and salutation for organizations

When mailing to organizations, often we want to mail to the primary contact at the organization, rather than just to the organization itself.  This solution walks you through how to set up your Name Format Options to mail to the primary contact's addressee and salutation, rather than the organization.
  1. Click Marketing and Communications from the top bar in Altru
  2. Click Name Format Options under Configuration
  3. Click the arrow for the name format option that will be used in the mailing > Click Edit
  4. Click the Organizations tab
  5. In the Addressee section, select a format to use that is on the primary contact's record.
For example: [Primary Addressee] will pull whatever the primary addressee is on the primary contact's record.  Contact addressee will pull the name format called contact addressee off of the primary contact's record.  If the primary contact for the organization does not have either of these name options, Altru will use the default format defined in the "Otherwise, use this format" section.
  1. In the Salutation section, change the drop down to say Organization contact.  Select a name format to use that is on the primary contact's record.
For example: [Primary Salutation] or Contact Salutation.  If the primary contact does not have either of these name options, Altru will use the default format defined in the "Otherwise, use this format" section.
  1. Click Save
In the mailing, insert addressee and salutation merge fields.  If the mailing is to an organization, it will automatically pull the addressee and salutation defined in your name format options.

Note: If you use this Name Format for other mailings, it will address the primary contact, instead of the organization.  If you need a name format to address just organizations and not the primary contact, create a new name format.
