Error: Unable to delete membership: This membership is associated with revenue and cannot be deleted - when deleting a membership with no revenue

When trying to delete a membership from a constituent record with no revenue attached, you may encounter the error:

Unable to delete membership: This membership is associated with revenue and cannot be deleted.
If this payment was made through the back office, we can delete the back office payment first and then delete the membership. 
  1. From constituent record, go to memberships tab
  2. Click on the name of the membership.
  3. Under Recent Membership Transactions, click on the most recent payment date.
  4. Click Delete Payment.
  5. From constituent record, go to memberships tab
  6. Click other tasks and select delete membership

If this membership was a $0.00 membership transaction made through the back office, we will still have to delete the $0.00 transaction first before we can delete the membership: 
  1. Go to Revenue -> Transaction Search.
  2. Search by the Constituent name.
  3. Locate the $0.00 transaction and select it.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. From constituent record, go to memberships tab
  6. Click other tasks and select delete membership

If this membership was done through a sales order, there is not a way to delete the membership. We would need to refund the order and cancel the membership. 
  1. From constituent record, go to memberships tab
  2. Click on the name of the membership.
  3. Under Recent Membership Transactions, click on the most recent payment date.
  4. Click Refund order on the left under Tasks.
  5. From constituent record, go to memberships tab
  6. Click other tasks and select cancel membership.

Steps to Duplicate

  1. From constituent record, go to memberships tab
  2. Click other tasks and select delete membership
  3. See error
